Jacques Barentz was as the only son of Elkan Barentz and Jetje van Thijn born 14 June 1918 in Amsterdam. He was unmarried and lived at home with his parents, who moved at some point in the thirties from the Mesdaglaan 30 to Oude Amersfoortseweg 13 in Hilversum.
