The fate of Manuel van Straten.

Manuel van Straten was a son of Bernard Salomon van Straten and Mietje Walg, born in Herwijnen on 4 October 1913. He was a farmer and agriculturalist and he was unmarried. He lived at home with his parents at Molenstraat B96 in Herwijnen but was taken in the spring of 1943 and sent to concentration camp Vught. The "Aussenkommando Moerdijk"

The only German-style concentration camp that was set up in our country was concentration camp Vught, which was opened in January 1943. The camp had a number of “Aussenkommando’s“ (satellite camps) including Moerdijk. This command was located in the old barracks of the anti-aircraft artillery near the harbour.
