Philip Kool was a son of Meijer Kool and Branke Curlijn. He married Judith Peperwortel in 1908 in Amsterdam. She died in 1938. They had ten children, of whom two, Meijer and Jacob Meijer, died at a young age before the war. Other children were Anna, the here mentioned Willem and Jacob.
