About Abraham Roos

The Police Commissioner of the Juvenile Bureau in Amsterdam requested that the minor Abraham Roos, born on 19 May 1922 in Amsterdam, living at 72 Beethovenstraat, second floor, in Amsterdam, be located and brought in. He had been missing since 17 July 1942. This description referred to Jews who had gone into hiding.

Abraham Roos, geb. 19.05.1922 te Amsterdam, is op 07.12.1943 met transport no. 64 vanuit het Franse doorgangskamp Drancy naar Auschwitz gedeporteerd.

Zijn beroep was kok, volgens opgave in onderstaande bron.

In Drancy had hij volgens een reçu van 26 november 1943 en dat is ondertekend door een politiechef (le chef de la police.....), nog 130 Franse francs op zak, wat hij wel zal hebben moete…

Abraham Roos' failed escape to Switzerland

Abraham Roos left the Netherlands for France in July 1942. He tried to escape to Switzerland through the mountains of Haute-Savoie on November 21, 1942, together with two friends from Amsterdam, Johan Kaufman (1918) and Maurice Boërs (1922).

The three of them were sent back by the Swiss border guards at Trient (Switzerland) and soon arrested by the French gendarmes of Vallorcine.
