About Simon van Bever

Simon van Bever was a son of Samson van Bever and Sientje Smeer. He married Betje Zwarts in Amsterdam on 6 Februari 1935, a daughter of Abraham Zwarts and Sara Wertheijm. The couple had three children: Samson, Sara and Sientje; toghether with their mother, they have been killed on 9 July 1943 in Sobibor.  Simon van Bever's life was already taken in Mauthausen on 1 September 1941.

Victims of february-raids gassed in Hartheim Castle.

On 22 and 23 Febuary 1941, raids took place in Amsterdam,  in which 390 Jewish men were arrested and deported. Only two of them survived. A recent investigation has shown that more than 100 men were gassed in Hartheim Castle, while Mauthausen was established as the official place of death.
