The period from 28 August to 12 December 1942 was known as the so-called Cosel period. Deportation trains  made a stopover at the freight station of Cosel, located 80 km west of Auschwitz. The transport of 30 October 1942 from Westerbork is, just like some previous transports, a not very surveyable transport. It consisted of 659 deportees, of which 200 "fit for work" boys and men between 15 and 50 years old were forced to leave the train at a stopover in Cosel to be used as forced laborers in the surrounding labor camps.
