Dijkhuis roots

Door:

Looking for familyroots.

My father, Hendrik Ellard Dijkhuis came to Canada in 1939 and married my mother, Marjorie Viola Fullerton in a Catholic wedding ceremony. I grew up in a Catholic home. As a young adult I converted to Judaism according to halakhic laws, under the auspices of a halakhically constituted and recognized beth din consisting of three learned rabbis acting as dayanim in Montreal, Canada. Thus, I have my Shtar geirut. This website interested me because in my family genealogy at http://www.westerkwartier.info/data/v_bm.pdf -- the name Jacques David Citroen appears. He was an actor/director in Amsterdam and was married to the great actress Rika Hopper. She was first cousin of my grandmother, Henderika Ellina Dijkhuis-Casemier who was the mother of my father, Hendrik Ellard Dijkhuis (Dykhuis in Canada). See Pagina 13 where you will find my late Father's branch of the family -- and the first Canadian branch of Dijkhuis family -- listing him, my mother and their five children. I am interested in any connection my Dijkhuis family may have to Jewish persons other than Jacques David Citroen who appears on Pagina 10 of the Casemier relatives of the Dijkhuis (Dykhuis) family. I think that perhaps the only Jewish members of our family are the late actor Citroen, my son, Dr. Mark Ellard Brodwin and me. My youngest sister Carol, is married to a Canadian Jewish man. Their 3 adult children grew up in a Catholic home. My late sister, the first born child of my parents -- "Marita" : her daughter Christine Fortin married Jerry Chinerman who is Jewish. Christine has two adult children, Sarah and Elliot. Elliot is very interested in his Judaic roots and spent much of the Summer 2011 in Israel.
Any member in this website who may know of another Jewish connection to my Dijkhuis (Dykhuis) roots, I would love learn about it.

Thank you for reading this long missive.
