About Simon Weijl

According to tradition Simon Weijl was gifted. He went to grammar school in Zutphen and then studied law in Amsterdam. Simon tried to flee from the Netherlands. He was caught the day after his birthday at Lille, together with all other Jewish men in that train. The cause was someone with false documents who had a stroke. Michael Simon Weijl was married to Helena Schaap. Initially, the couple lived at 1 Deventerweg in Zutphen, later at 2 Minervaplein in Amsterdam. They had a child that survived the war.
