David Werkendam

David Werkendam was a son of Mozes Izaak Werkendam and Duifje Turfkruijer. He married Hilletje Bremer in 1915 in Amsterdam. They divorced in 1938. They had five children, among whom Max, Samuel, Dora and Philip (who passed away in 1925). He remarried on 21 August 1940 in Amsterdam to a catholic woman. Hildegard Lorenz was his stepchild.

David Werkendam (b1890) my grand uncle, was the brother of my great grandfather Zadok Werkendam (b1888). His other siblings were Engelina, Hartog, Johanna (Anne), Simon and Esther Werkendam. I would dearly love to see an image of him to add to our Werkendam family tree. Any photos of Isaac and Engelina would be very much appreciated also.

Hendrica ('Nel') Werkendam-Emden was his daughter in law, Mathilda ('Tilly') Werkendam his granddaughter, both in hiding in Amsterdam.
David Werkendam was a (council-)communist. In 1925 he was chair of the Landelijke Werkloozen Organisatie (LWO), as of 1927 board member of the Werkloozen Agitatie Comite (WAC).

Hilletje Bremer was a daughter of Mozes and Johanna Bremer. She married 563529 in 1915 in Amsterdam. They divorced in 1938. They had five children, among whom Max, Samuel, Dora and Philip (who passed away in 1925).
