Het gezin Flinker vluchtte in de zomer van 1942 naar België, waar ze tot hun arrestatie in april 1944 ondergedoken in Brussel leefden. Zoon Mozes Wolf (Moshe) schreef in deze periode een dagboek, dat later gepubliceerd werd. Het gezin werd met het 25e konvooi van Mechelen naar Auschwitz gedeporteerd.
