Salomon Israëls, a draper, lived at E 42 Hoofdstraat in Visvliet (town of Grijpskerk) with his sister Jette Israëls. Jette Israëls was in hiding at the Rooms-Katholieke Ziekenhuis (Roman Catholic hospital) in Groningen. She was picked up from there and deported to Auschwitz via Westerbork.
