Josef Trakatsch was the son of Max Trakatsch en and his wife Henriette. He was a law student and also graduated in sociology. In 1933 he wrote a English letter to the anthropologist, Prof. Franz Boas, who was German from origin and who resided in the United States. Deze briefkaart is op 13 april 1943 verstuurd door Betty Trakatsch-Klein, de vrouw van Joseph Trakatsch, aan haar moeder, Therese Klein-Drucker, die op dat moment in het getto van Theresienstadt zat.

Deze briefkaart werd bijna 2 weken na de vorige, op 24 april 1943, geschreven door Betty Trakatsch-Klein, de vrouw van Joseph Trakatsch, aan haar moeder, Therese Klein-Drucker, die in het getto van Theresienstadt zat opgesloten.

Deze briefkaart werd gestuurd naar het huisadres van Betty Trakatsch-Klein in Amsterdam, maar omdat ze al was gedeporteerd naar Westerbork werd de kaart doorgestuurd naar dat kamp. De briefkaarts is geschreven op 28 juni 1943 vanuit Duitsland, maar de afzender kan ik niet ontcijferen. Josef Trakatsch is listed in the "Death Books of Auschwitz" (KG Saur, 1995) as having prisoner number 23357 and 21 August 1942 as his date of death.
