Josef Kirchheimer

Josef Kirchheimer had a good friend with whom he spent a lot of time. The evening before Josef Kirchheimer was deported, he said farewell to that friend. On that occasion, Josef’s parents gave his leather school bag to the friend.

Ruim een jaar nadat de briefkaarten uit Westerbork op het Joodsmonument zijn geplaatst, meldde Janet Kirchheimer uit Amerika, zich bij het Joods Historisch museum. Zij was de dochter van Julius Kirchheimer (1921-2011), de oudere broer van Josef, die op tijd naar Amerika ontkwam. Zij schonk het museum foto's van haar familie en het portret van Josef.
