Leentje (or Lenie) Krant worked as a seamstress at a small fashion house in Bussum. In 1942, Leentje was living in Amsterdam and was engaged to a Mr Waterman. This Mr Waterman was interned in a camp, but was allowed to go to Amsterdam for his wedding. He was told that if he did not return, someone else would be shot in his place.
