The fate of Hijman Smit.

Hijman Smit was a son of Nathan Smit and Heintje de Wolff. He married 5 November 1921 in Borgerhout (Antwerp) the non-Jewish Anna Clementina van Elsen, born 9 March 1893 in Antwerp as daughter of the warehouse clerk Augustinus Ludovicus van Elsen and Maria Rosalie Jugters. About the 2nd convoy of 11 August 1942.

This transport contained 999 deportees, among them 147 children, younger than 16 years. More or less in the same ratio as in the 1st convoy. The registrations began on 31 July and were completed 8 days later on 7 August. Just as for the previous convoy, to be able to form the quota it was necessary to draw on those, called for the next convoys.
