Mijn moeder Hannie Couprie woonde in haar jeugd op de Griftstraat 50 te Amsterdam. De pendule die zo rustig de Big Ben kan slaan bleken haar ouders tijdens de oorlog in bewaring te hebben gekregen van de familie Heilbron in de straat. Samen met het boek De negerhut van om Tom. Bezittingen die helaas nooit meer op zijn gehaald.
