Michel Walvis, a son of Salomon Walvis and Dina Grishaver, was born in Amsterdam on 8 June 1889. He earned his money being a market vendor of haberdasheries. He also had an education at the ANDB, the Diamond Workers Union,  as a rose cutter (section 5) and brilliant polisher (section 2).
