Israel Wolf is een zoon van Benjamin Wolf [1863 Stadskanaal / Onstwedde] en Vrouwke Dalsheim [1857 Meeden]. Moeder overleed in mei 1935, en werd begraven in Stadskanaal, vader kwam in Auschwitz aan zijn eind.
Ziin drie zussen Betje [1893], Berendje [1897] en Rieka [1903] en zijn twee broers Joel [1896] en Filippus [1899] kwamen allen om in de vernietigingskampen.
