Leendert Porcelijn, the 4th of the seven children of Salomon Porcelijn and Rika Augurk, was born in Amsterdam on 12 July 1909. His profession was musician: he played the saxophone and the drums. On 1 November 1939 he married Matthea Bolle in Amsterdam, a daughter of Levie Bolle and Klaartje Kornalijnslijper.
