About Levie Gans

Levie Gans was a son of Philip Israel Gans and Rebecca Peeper. He married 10 April 1922 in Amsterdam to Lea de Beer, daughter of Herman de Beer and Sara de Vries. The couple had three children: Rebecca, Benjamin Herman and Philip Louis, of whom the latter has survived the Holocaust.
Levie Gans had another brother Israel, who was married (and divorced) to Judith Velleman.

Access is subject to authorization from the Stichting Joods Maatschappelijk Werk.The Jokos file reveals that a claim was lodged for compensation for valuables surrendered to the Lippmann-Rosenthal looting bank (L-claim, number 3728 / 4831).

Ondergedoken

Benjamin Gans zat ondergedoken bij de familie Koning aan de Bloemendaalschestraatweg 123 in Bloemendaal. Halverwege 1942 voegde zijn jongere broertje Philip zich daar ook bij hem. Hun ouders en zus Rebecca zaten in Baarn ondergedoken. In het voorjaar van 1943 gingen Benjamin en Philip ook naar dat adres. Door verraad werd het gezin in de nacht van 24 juli 1943 gearresteerd.
