Herman was voor zijn dood 14 jaar actief in de kleinhandel met zijn vrouw Klaartje. Ze hadden samen een groente en fruitzaak op hun woonadres Rapenburgerstraat 3(waarschijnlijk begane grond). Herman overleed op 2 juni 1941 & Klaartje verzoekt 2 maanden later erkenning als kleinhandelaar aan de Centrale Markt.
