About Barend Velleman

The Police Commissioner of Amsterdam requested on behalf of the Public Prosecutor that Barend Velleman, director of a furniture store, formerly living at 80 Roerstraat, ground floor, in Amsterdam be located, detained and brought to trial. He was suspected of having stolen some furniture.

Barend Velleman and his family

Barend Velleman and his family went into hiding in Nijmegen, using the name De Bruin.
They most likely had contacts there through the brother of Isabella Gotlieb, Herman, who lived in Nijmegen but was killed in Auschwitz in September 1942. Barend Velleman was een zoon van Hartog Velleman (1860-1930) en Elisabeth Gotlieb (1854-1943). Andries Velleman (1943 Birkenau)  gehuwd met Clara Koekoek en Barend Velleman waren broers.
