About Hijman Slap

Hijman Slap was counted among the so-called ‘diamond men’. These men, to which also his father Elias, his nephew Hijman Slap and son Gerrit belonged, had turned in a lot of diamonds to get a sperre. Because the diamond industry had to go on, first only the women and children were sent to Westerbork as ‘hostages’. Later in 1943 the men followed. In 1944 all of them were deported to Bergen-Belsen.
