Margaretha Eichwald committed - due to the pressure of the circumstances - suicide on 16 March 1943 in Westerbork transit camp. She was cremated there on 17 March 1943. The urn with her ashes was placed on the Jewish cemetry in Diemen on field U, row 1, grave number 12.
