Marianne de Hond-Brander (mijn moeder) heeft als enige van het gezin van Elias Brander de oorlog overleeft. Ook haar man, Marcus de Hond, is in de oorlog vermoord.
Zij overleefde Auschwitz, het experimentenblok, waar men gepoogd heeft haar onvruchtbaar te maken. Dat is niet gelukt, en ik ben als haar enige kind, na de oorlog geboren.
