About Betje Leeraar

Betje Leeraar was a daughter of Lion Leeraar and Rosetta Katz. She was unmarried. Her father passed in Dieren 30 July 1938 and her mothter there 2 May 1939. Betje Leeraar had gone into hiding but it is presumable that by treason, she was arrested. Betje was not registered in Camp Westerbork and it is likely that immediately after her arrest she was 25 Januiary 1944 deported to Auschwitz. This tran…

About Betje Leeraar

The Arnhem police commissioner requested that Betje Leeraar, residing in Arnhem, be located, detained and brought to trial. She was suspected of having changed her place of residence without the required authorization. This description referred to Jews who had gone into hiding.

De vader van Betje, Lion Leeraar was getrouwd met Rebekka Levie (1862-1902). Zij kregen vijf kinderen, Isedoor (1888-1942), Koosje (1889), Samuel (1893-1942), Herman (1896), en Saartje (1900-1942). 

Na het overlijden van Rebekka hertrouwde Lion Leeraar met Rosetta Katz,  Uit dit tweede huwelijk werd Betje geboren.
