Emma Mathilde Hartogs, geboren in Rotterdam op 10 februari 1909, zat van 1921 tot in 1924 op het Erasmiaans Gymnasium in Rotterdam. Gezien haar geboortejaar - 1909 - is het onwaarschijnlijk dat Emma tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog op het Joods Lyceum in Den Haag zat, zoals vermeld in een ander verhaal bij haar naam op Joods Monument.
