Sallij was getrouwd met Rientje de Haan en werkte als procuratiehouder bij de Gebroeders Levie in Groningen, een herenconfectiebedrijf. Samen kregen zijn twee dochters, Mathilde en Tina. Sallij en Tina werden in 1943 vermoord in Sobibor. Rientje en Mathilde hebben via onderduik de oorlog overleefd. Na de oorlog woonden zij in Amsterdam.
