Het gezin van Samuel Coster woonde tot 1937 in de Stationsstraat in Hilversum. Samuel had daar een confectie-atelier. Naast zijn werk was hij als penningmeester lid van het bestuur van de Nederlands Israëlitische Gemeente in Hilversum en lid van de kerkeraad. Ook was hij voor de Gemeente een van de vertegenwoordigers in de Ressortale Raad van het Synagogaal Resort Noord-Holland.
In de vergadering van de kerkeraad begin november 1937 is afscheid genomen van Samuel.
