About Bela Pagrach

Bela Pagrach left a diary that is now still in the possession of a relative. She suffered from tuberculosis and was first treated in Hellendoorn and later also in Deventer in a hospital. Her fiancé escaped to England, where he served with the marines.

Daniël Pagrach and his family

Daniël Pagrach was married to Jane Dormits. They had a son Louis Jacob and a daughter Bela. The family lived at A 220 in Holten. Daniël and his son Louis Jacob were both butchers and cattle dealers. Louis Jacob Pagrach was sent to the Jewish labour camp Wittebrink in Hummelo. He was sent from there to Westerbork on 2 October 1942 and subsequently deported to Germany. Dit is een foto van Bela Pagrach, de zuster van mijn moeder, Betje Pagrach. Ik ben na haar genoemd. Bela bereikte de leeftijd van 27 jaar en werd in Sobibor vermoord. Deze foto hangt in mijn huis in Israel. Hij stond op de mantel in het huis van mijn ouders. Bela was de jongste van drie kinderen, Louis Jacob, Betje en Bela. Alleen Betje overleefde de oorlog. Louis stierf op de dodenmarch in 1944. …
