Michel Moritz Rothschild was co-owner of the cycle wholesale business Rothschild & Keizer at the Nieuwe Markt 8 in Zwolle. In 1928, the moved the shop to the Oudegracht 196 in Utrecht. His business partner was Louis Keizer.

Eduard Keizer richtte per 1 maart 1925 met zijn compagnon Michel Moritz Rothschild de Firma Rothschild en Keizer op, gevestigd in Zwolle. Het bedrijf handelde in fietsen en rijwielonderdelen. Per 15 januari 1928 is de zaak verplaatst naar Utrecht, Oude Gracht 196. Rothschild verhuisde naar de Voorstraat 51bis te Utrecht. Eduard Keizer bleef in Zwolle wonen, Sassenstraat 39I.
