About Meijer Scharis and the fate of his family.

Meijer Scharis was born in Amsterdam on 26 December 1890 and a son of Lodewijk Scharis and Rika de Haas. He was a decorator and upholsterer by trade. On 6 August 1914, he married Grietje van West, a daughter of the florist Salomon van West and Betje Lelie, in Zaandam. Sterbebücher - Death registers of Auschwitz

The so-called Sterbebücher of Auschwitz includes nearly 69.000 official certificates of death, made out in the camp between July 1941 and December 1943.

The deviating date of death of Isidore Scharis.

According to the "Sterbebücher" (death records) of Auschwitz, Isidore Scharis was murdered there on 24 October 1942. This date is quite different from the official date of death of 31 January 1943, as determined by the Dutch Ministry of Justice after the war.
