Over Josef Daniel

De burgemeester van De Bilt verzocht opsporing, aanhouding en voorgeleiding van Josef Daniël, koopman, wonende te Bilthoven. Hij had zonder de daartoe vereiste vergunning zijn woonplaats verlaten. Met deze omschrijving werden joden aangeduid die waren ondergedoken.

Geboren op 5 Augustus, 1894 in Flamersheim, Duitsland 

Hij was niet getrouwd. Hij werd geadviseerd om onder te duiken in Utrecht maar hij weigerde dit. Josef werd later op straat opgepakt en naar Westerbork gedeporteerd.

Josef overleed op 21 mei, 1943 in Sobibor. 

Zijn broers en zuster waren:

Frieda Daniël, Moritz Daniël, Veronica Daniël, Leo Daniël, Helene Daniël Martha Daniël en Rob…

Joseph Daniel

he was Born on August 5, 1894 in Flamersheim, Germany.  Never married. He was advised to go into hiding in Utrecht, but refused. He was picked up by the Germans on the streets and deported to Westerbork and Sobibor.

Died on May 21, 1943 in Sobibor Concentration Camp.

His brothers and sisters are:

Frieda, Moritz, Veronika, Leo, Helene Martha and Robert Daniel

The Mayor of Bilthoven had issued a warrant and search for Josef Daniel, Salesman, living in Bilthoven. He had left the town without a permit to leave. This was description for Jewish people who went into hiding.

Historic information tells us that already in 1750 well to do Jewish families lived in Sinzenich and the serounding Eifel area. The families all had their own  businesses. Stumbling Blocks have been placed for the family members of Jeantte Behr-Daniel



Subject: Stumbling Stone have been placed for Ruth’s family
I was in Holland during the month of November visiting with family and friends. It was good to be there  and catch up with everyone. Last year in November the placing of the Stumbling Blocks in front of Ruth’s grandmothers home was cancelled due the enforcement of strict Covid-19’s rules. So it was rescheduled for this year.
