About Josef Trakatsch

Josef Trakatsch was the son of Max Trakatsch en and his wife Henriette. He was a law student and also graduated in sociology. In 1933 he wrote a English letter to the anthropologist, Prof. Franz Boas, who was German from origin and who resided in the United States. In the letter Trakatsch refers to the absence of possibilities to continue his studies because of restrictions for Jews. He therefore asked the professor assistance to leave Germany.
Trakatsch also states he is working on a monography: Rassegefühl und Rassewirklichkeit.

Josef Trakatsch married on 24 June 1942 in Amsterdam. His wife survived the war.
