Marianne Waterman-Hakker worked in a sewing atelier during the war. Because her employer also accepted orders of the Germans, she had a Sperre for a period of time. In September 1943 her hiding place was betrayed.

Nathan was de zoon van Barend, broer van mijn overgrootvader Machiel.

Via Ronieth Ilsar uit Afula (IL), die ook een achterkleindochter is van Barend en dus mijn achterachternicht, kreeg ik de volgende info dat hun drie kinderen de Shoa overleefd hadden. Ik heb wel wat info kunnen sprokkelen maar over Beppie (of : Betsy) heb ik NIETS kunnen vinden. Jetty (geboren 27 november 1928) was gehuwd met Leo Fuchs in Israel waar ze van 1957 tot 1963 woonden. Marianne Hakker trouwde in Amsterdam op 22 februari 1928 met Nathan Waterman. Jetje Luza (1866-1925), haar moeder, was toen al overleden.
Salomon Barend Hakker (1878-1943), haar vader was op 17 maart 1926 getrouwd met Betsij Maandag (1891-1945).
Betsij Maandag is familie van mij.

Nathan Waterman and his family

Nathan Waterman and his family originally lived in the Lekstraat. During the war, they were forced to move to the Van Oldenbarneveldtstraat, located in the West of the city and away from the rest of the Waterman family. (The Abraham Werkendam -Waterman family, for example). Nathan obtained a so-called 'sperre' which allowed him to travel to and from his job at a large greengrocer's.
