Isidorus Schijvenschuurder was born in Antwerp on 2 February 1898 as son of Eva Jacoba Schijvenschuurder and Meijer Samuel van Praag. Isidorus married in Amsterdam Sientje van Praag on 12 February 1919, who was born 3 December 1895 as daughter of the disc sander Israël van Praag and Saartje de Hond.
