Hellmuth was born on 21 July 1892 in Krotoszyn. He was the youngest son of Joachim/Jacob Auerbach and Selma Birnbaum. His father died when he was 10 years old. Hellmuth fled to Amsterdam in 1936. Hellmuth and Helen Frenkel got married in 1939. Helen Frenkel was born on 5 January 1913 in Koln. Hellmuth and Helen died in Auschwitz Concentration Camp in 1943. They had no children.
