Betje Louise Samuel-de Leeuw was de tweede dochter van Schoontje Samuel-Meier en Sander (Shmuel) Meier. Ze was afkomstig uit Nijverdal. Ze werd geboren op Rijssensestraat 30. Van haar gehele familie bleef niemand over. Haar ouders, zuster Sientje, diens man, allen werden vermoord. Ook zij, samen met haar man en twee kleine kinderen.
