Biography

About Isaac de Leeuwe and Jeannette de Leeuwe-Jacobs

 

Isaac de Leeuwe was a son of  Abraham de Leeuwe and Roosje Strous. He married Antje Blik in Amsterdam 19 November 1879, a daughter of Isaac Jacob Blik and Annaatje Barend Matteman. The couple had eight children, namely Rosa in 1880, Abraham in 1881, Annetje in 1884, Jacob in 1888, Sara in 1890, Bernard in 1892, Rachel in 1895 en Louis in 1901. Rosa, Bernard and Louis have survived the war. The other five children were killed in the Shoah.

 

 

Since 1902 the De Leeuwe family resided for quite some time in Antwerp and Borgerhout but in Maty 1932 the family returned to Amsterdam and lived at Vrolikstraat 329I. 10April 1935 they moved to Sparrenweg 7 down floor in East Amsterdam .

 

 

Isaac’s wife Antje Blik passed away in Amsterdam 30 June 1922 and she was interred in the Jewish Cemetery of Diemen. 26 May 1926 Isaac de Leeuw married again to Jeannette Jacobs in Amsterdam, a daughter of Wolf Lammert Jacobs and Veni Benjamins. From this marriage no offspring is known.

 

 

Isaac de Leeuwe passed away in Amsterdam 29 December 1941 and two days later interred in the Jewish Cemetery in Diemen. His 2nd wife Jeannette Jacobs was deported from Camp Westerbork to Auschwitz 29 September 1942 and upon arrival there 1 October 1942 immediately killed.
