About Judik Pais-Spijer

Judik Spijer got married Benjamin Pais in Harlingen on 18 September 1890. The couple had three daughters, Sara, Johanna and Jetje. Johanna died in Harlingen in 1892, four months after her birth. In 1914, Judik and her family moved to the island of Terschelling, where they lived under the lighthouse Brandaris. They opened a shop there, selling ironmongery and manufactured goods. They also sold hats, made by their daughter Sara. When Benjamin died, in 1929, Judik and Sara took over the shop. On 25 August 1942, Judik was forced to move to Amsterdam, by order of the occupying forces.
