In December 1941, a short obituary was placed in Het Joodsche Weekblad on the death of J. Poons. J. Poons was retired 1st bassoonist of the Residentie-orkest and former teacher at the State Academy of Music. For a few years, he had been attached to the Philharmonic Orchestra of Rotterdam as a solo-bassoonist.
