Vader van Betje was Meijer van der Horst (31-5-1872 Steenwijk; 6-8-1941 Beesterswaag). Meijer woonde vanaf 1-1-1941 in Deventer.

Liepman Brommet was the headmaster of a school in Deventer. In 1941 he was dismissed by order of the occupying forces. In Utrecht he found work at a Jewish school. In 1942 Liepman Brommet was deported to Mauthausen, where he was murdered. Soon after he died, his wife Betje Brommet-van der Horts took her own life.
