Caroline Sara Gutmann was the daughter of Isaak Gutmann and Minna Rosenbaum. She married Izaak Herzberg in 1882. He died in 1936.
In 1939 she moved from Germany to Amsterdam, together with the family of her brother-in-law, Georg Herzberg. She died in Januari 1943 at the address Kloveniersburgwal 17-huis.
