According to tradition Friedrich Max Julius Albert Elsbach and Helena Schwarz would be picked up in 1941 by an English seaplane near the Eem. When the plane did not arrive they drowned themselves. On the cemetery of Bunschoten a memorial stone was placed for these two people.
