Berthy De Kadt-Polak was gehuwd met de chemicus George De Kadt. Zij was juriste en geboren in Groningen. Met haar man en haar gezin pleegde ze in juli 1942 zelfmoord. Alleen een baby bleef in leven.

George Stephan de Kadt and his family

Due to the pressure of the circumstances, the de Kadt family took their own lives by letting gas run through their house. The youngest child survives due to the fact that the crib was placed near an open window.
