Hedwig (Hetty) Andriesse was the oldest daughter of Samuel Andriesse and Johanna Jesse. On 10 December 1931 she moved from Germany to Rotterdam, where she got acquainted with her husband. Hetty was very optimistic, even when the situation for Dutch Jews deteriorated. She wore the Jewish star with pride and did not want to consider going into hiding.
