Samuel van Staveren was a son of Zacharias van Staveren and Marianne Ketellapper. He married 30 October 1930 in Amsterdam to Bertha Wolf, a daughter of Hijman Wolf and Mary Poppelsdorf. In 1933 their son Richard Zacharias was born.
Samuel had a brother Marcus and two sisters Rachel and Jansje who also were killed during the Holocaust.
