Elias Brander was a son of Isaac Brander and Marianne van Bever. He married 12 August 1914 to Esther Ritmeester, daughter of Hartog Ritmeester and Branca Nabarro.
Besides his brothers and sister Raphael, Nathan, Barend and Elisabeth who have been killed in the Holocaust, it were also his sister-in-law Sophie Schelvis who was married to his brother Hartog, who died already in 1923 and his brother-in-law Joseph Ritmeester, widower of his sister Aaltje Brander, who had died in january 1940
