About Samson de Rooij

Samson de Rooij (de Rooy) was a son of Mozes de Rooij and Sara Boeken, a family with eleven children, among them Keetje, Abraham, Betje (who passed already in 1908), Rebecca, Hartog, Esther, Jacob, Pinehas, Coenraad, who has survived the Holocaust, Rachel and Samson himself.
Samson married in Amsterdam on 22 November 1893 to Carolina Cohen, daughter of Nochum Cohen and Jetta Barenstein.
The couple had twelve children together, of whom Nochem and Marcus died as babies and Jochem survived the war. Their other children were Sara, Mozes, Jacob, Jetta, Mina, Elisabeth, Rachel and Rebecca and Sophia who still lived with their parents.
