Jacob Kijl was a son of Salomon Kijl and Schoontje Waas. He married in Amsterdam on 1 March 1911 to Leentje van Loggem, daughter of Levie van Loggem and Betje Reens.
His daughter Betje was married in 1934 to Mozes Elsas, son of Emanuel Elsas and Keetje Hagenaar.
